Prep and moisturize.
First make sure your hair is moisturized, especially if you use heat styling equipment on a regular basis. Salon quality moisturizing shampoos and conditioners can give your hair enough moisture to make styling easier.
Section and tease.
Start with equal sections in front and comb the rest back to separate. Grab the top section of your hair, pull up and start teasing the bottom part of the section using a comb. Flip this section out of the way, and do this for the next section before you apply hairspray to set the tease and add volume on top of your head.
Smooth and twist.
Smooth out the outer portion of the top section by running a comb lightly through the top before you start twisting this part of the hair at the back of the head. Finish the twist at the back of the nape and lock with a bobby pin. Grab the tail end of the twisted hair and tuck it into a small bun.
Grab the unsecured portion of the hair and wrap around the bun, securing it with bobby pins. If there are remaining unsecured locks of hair on the other side, simply wrap around the bun as well and secure the same way. Use hairspray to set the style and you are done. Finish the front portion by giving it a lovely loose wave using a heating curler to keep that narrow look to the face.
